The Department of Chemistry Instrumentation Facility (DCIF) is the shared instrument facility for the Chemistry Department located in the sub-basement (18-0090) of the Camille Edouard Dreyfus Building on the main MIT campus. We are a teachng facility, providing access and training for the use of high-value analytical instrumentation. We maintain an extensive number of state-of-the-art major analytical instruments in order to support ongoing research programs, principally within the MIT Chemistry Department. Our resources are also available to members of the broader MIT community as well as the wider scientific community (both non-profit and for-profit). Primary instruments include NMR instruments from 300-600MHz, MS resources for measuring molecular mass of both small and large molecules, accurate mass determination, EPR, FTIR, and polarimetry.
